Enjoyed Live Painting at a multicultural event on Saturday, August 19, 2023 hosted by Seven Visions Studio in Portland called ENTIRELY TOGETHER. My 36” square canvas with black gesso that ended up an abstract lively doodle inspired by the amazing music and dance performances during the show, was auctioned off to benefit Four Nations Ceremonial Community Funds!

My ceramics work was displayed and sold at the group booth of Oregon Potters Association 40th Annual Ceramic Showcase at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland on April 28, 29, and 30, 2023. Hope you visited if you were in PDX! Much of the work in my online shop was there in person.

INVITE TO MY OPEN STUDIO!

What: Portland Open Studios, 117 local artists open their studios for visitors for two weekends!

When: October 8, 9, and October 15, 16, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

This is the first time I’ve been in Open Studios since 2015. It is great to have a deadline to get the studio cleaned up to welcome visitors who can see me working on projects, and an opportunity to buy artwork directly from the artist!

On Sunday, June 5, I will be signing and selling Alice’s Kitchen Traditional Lebanese Cooking and my ceramic work at My People’s Market in close-in Southeast Portland from 11 a.m. to 54 p.m. If you’re in PDX come by!

OREGON GOVERNOR’S MANSION EXHIBITION: MY CERAMIC WORK

Several ceramics pieces have been selected to be shown in the Oregon Governor’s Mansion in Salem for the entire year in a display called Focus on Diversity with seven artists from diverse cultures!

JURIED SHOW: BEYOND THE CONSTRUCT, HOOD RIVER, OREGON May 7 to 29th, 2021.

Two of my ceramic sculpted pieces were juried into an exhibition Beyond the Construct, opening May 7, 2021 at the Columbia Center for the Arts in Hood River, Oregon! One piece is one of my large wall hanging Blessing Totems, and the other is a tulipiere. Additionally, they invited me to show my Petite Blessing Totems What an honor!

April 30, 2021 was the first of the three day virtual Ceramic Showcase, and I’ve added lots of new pieces fresh out of the kiln to my Fun-ctional Home Decor page. I hope you find something you’d love to bless your home with! Thank you for visiting!

ILLUSTRATION IN POETRY FOUNDATION MAGAZINE

The March, 2021 issue of Poetry Foundation Magazine focused on Youth and guest edited by my beloved friend, Palestinian American poet, Naomi Shihab Nye, and two other poets has just been published. I am delighted to say it includes my illustration of a marvelous poem by Nour Al Ghraowi titled “Truth is I’d like to Escape Myself”, which they commissioned.

I am so grateful to Naomi for inviting my participation in this wonderful edition of their magazine, edited by Fred Sasaki among others. Naomi is Poetry Foundation's Young People's Poet Laureate! She brings her skill and grace and sensitivity to issues of our times in approachable ways that meet us all. Copies of this magazine are available by clicking this link.

Aramco World Magazine a series of articles appearing in every bimonthly issue of 2021 on spices, called Spice Migrations. I painted a spice mandala including all six of the featured spices for the cover of the Jan/Feb 2021 issue.

Free subscriptions to Aramco World Magazine are available by signing up on their website now, to receive this beautiful publication in the mail 6 times a year. You can find more illustrations for the first issue on cinnamon in my illustration page.

My cookbook, Alice’s Kitchen: Traditional Lebanese Cooking, was featured on the cover of this publication in Jan/Feb 1997 in an article entitled Memories of a Lebanese Garden.

This fall I began training to become a facilitator in the Singing Tree Mural project. More details on this are available in my murals page. It is an exciting new endeavor that fills my heart and soul.

My return to ceramics the past few years has brought me great joy, using my beloved mother, Alice’s kiln. In redesigning my website, I have made it more commerce friendly, so people can purchase my new ceramic work and paintings easily via my new website. I hope you enjoy shopping here!
