M U R A L S

Over the years I have been able to create murals for various sites in Portland, from interior walls to exterior walls to sidewalk storm drains!

I welcome the opportunity to create more murals. Please be in touch if you have ideas or a wall! I am trained to be a facilitator in the Singing Tree Mural Project, developed by educator and artist, Laurie Marshall, which is in tune with my heart!

The Black United Fund Mandala Mural

The Black United Fund Mandala Mural was painted on NE Alberta Street in Portland, Oregon in 2016 with five other panels focused on the history of Alberta Street. It measures 8 feet x 8 feet. Small prints of this are available for purchase on my mandala page of this website.

Tualatin Valley Riverkeepers Mural

Tualatin Valley Riverkeepers selected my design for their Latino themed sidewalk storm drain mural. The mural has English and Spanish text reminding Hillsboro residents that anything going into the storm drain ends up in the Tualatin River.

FARRAGUT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CERAMIC TILE MURAL

Working with kindergarteners and fifth graders, we used commercial 6” bisque fired ceramic tiles for the students to paint their self portraits which became murals mounted on the school exterior in Vallejo, California. This was kindergarten class of 2002.

My We Speak Arab American Mural panel was painted in 1992. Thirteen panels were painted by the four major minority groups: Asian Americans, Latinos, African Americans, and Native Americans. I was able to paint this Arab-American mural which traveled around the state of Oregon with twelve other murals as a part of the Asian panels. We painted on 5’5” stretched canvases that were hinged together and shown in schools, libraries and other venues around the state of Oregon.

Click this link to read the We Speak Mural Project history, which I created on blogspot at the 20th anniversary of the mural in 2012 with many images. In 2012, some of the panels travelled to Columbia Gorge Community College for exhibition there.

DENNIS UNIFORM interior mural

Growing up in LA, and going to Catholic schools for 12 years meant wearing uniforms. A memorable childhood event was going to our neighborhood KIDDE shop as it was called to try on school uniforms. They were made by Dennis Uniform Company, who is based in Portland, Oregon, where I live. Imagine 30 years later, as a graphic designer in Portland, ending up doing graphic design work for Dennis Uniforms!
