New work is added to this page of products frequently, so please check back or sign up for my quarterly art newsletter. My work is one of a kind, and I am enjoying creating with clays including porcelain, akio, red, and other clay bodies fired to Cone 5/6. My love of color in painting comes into play in ceramics experimenting with glazes, textures, reflecting imagery from my Arabic background and my travels to Lebanon, Mexico, and Bali.

MY ROOTS IN THE EARTH CLAY BODY

A mid-1960s ceramics class at LA Community College and then at UCLA as an art elective got me grounded into clay. While living in the Santa Cruz mountains in Boulder Creek, my dear friends, Dan and Laurie Hennig at Camp Climax Pottery generously taught me how to make sprig molds, which were perfect for developing my line of reduction-fired porcelain buttons and cabinet knobs which I sold at arts and crafts fairs, galleries, and west coast fabric shops, boutiques, and even Orchard Supply Hardware in Santa Cruz. A few of my original, vintage 1970s buttons and cabinet knobs can be found for sale here! A little remaining inventory has shown them to be still popular decades later!

An Oregon College of Arts and Crafts workshop in the 1990s on painting and drawing on clay enabled me to create a body of work using bisque fired slabs of clay painted with acrylic paints. Some of those works are available here: Paintings on Clay. In the past two years, I have returned to working with clay and am happy to be using my beloved mother’s kiln, which she used for her creative ceramic work into her 90s! My current ceramic work is an exploration of three dimensional work and a continuation of my love of clay.
