A new piece just out of the kiln, another porcelain tulipiere with a Middle Eastern and ornate quality, reflecting my heritage. These pieces are very tricky to make: the clay must be at the perfect state of wetness to attach, and dryness to not collapse and hold up the weight as the coils are carefully placed. The slightly cattywampus look gives it character!

In beautiful cobalt blues, turquoise, and some hints of green, the openings allow for beautiful arrangements of your fresh garden bouquets. Porcelain decorated while still wet clay with stamps, hand painted, then glazed and fired to cone 5.

This piece is on display and for sale at the Oregon Governor’s Mansion in Salem.
