My series of Alice in Wonderland Heart vases are made of porcelain. They are named after my beloved artist mother, Alice, who made ceramics, fused glass, and jewelry into her 90s. She decorated a lovely small heart vase with a decal and signed it in gold luster! It’s in my bathroom and holds my manicure set. It can also make a lovely flower vase for spring bouquets, hold pens and pencils, or whatever you like.

These pieces are very tricky to make: there are 7 pieces to cut out and join after the clay has been pressed into a flat slab, and a design has been impressed upon it. The clay must be at the perfect state of wetness to attach the parts together. The little legs are especially tricky! The slightly cattywampus look gives them character! The designs are from a hand carved stamp I made or from found objects.
