BLESSING TOTEMS

My Blessing Totems are a new body of work in clay that I began in 2018 and reflect my love of creating faces. The images that emerge are coming from my subconscious and inspired by Balinese and Mexican masks seen in my travels. They are meant to bring joy and protection and blessing to your home. I begin by pressing large slabs of clay into a plaster mold that I designed and cast, which has a large, round face, with a nose. The rest is added and sculpted on each one. Of course, these are one of a kind. They range in size from 10 to 12 inches wide and have built in hangers for your home or garden wall.

This wall piece and my garden color totems are showing February 20 to 23, 2025 at Portland Expo Center with the Home and Garden Show.

Another in my series of large wall hanging Blessing Totems. These mythical faces emerge from my subconscious with the intention of blessing a home or commercial space.

My influences include my trips to Bali and Mexico where wall hung masks are powerful ubiquitous entities.

An original one of a kind totem Mask wall hanging.

This one was made with Akio clay.I love the earthy color of this sculptural clay.

Ceramic mid-range fired with underglazes, stains, and glazes.

Wired on the back for ease of hanging.
