delighted and honored to have been invited by Kay Flavell of New Pacific Studio (New Zealand and Vallejo, California) to be an artist in residence in her Vallejo studio, where i lived and worked as an artist from 2000 to 2002. i am here now working on a new mandala for an exhibition in Oregon on coastal estuaries. Sara Vickerman invited me to create a new mandala (inspired by my Water Blessing mandala) for the exhibition and i am here now working on that this week.
it’s great to be in vallejo again and catch up with friends and artists, teachers, and mentors. the Vallejo Times Herald even wrote up an article about my residency including mention of my ceramic tile murals done at my neighborhood elementary school with kindergarteners and fifth graders. today i visited the school and got some good photos of some of the great kids’ self portraits. definitely done in pre-selfie times. will post some of the great tiles soon!
if you are in the bay area, i hope you can attend our open studio on friday, march 29 at new pacific studio in vallejo from 4 to 7 pm!
